Scooby “Doobie” Doo! Between a multitude of tv series, spinoffs, and movies, you’ll have lots of Scooby-Doo content to get through while rolling up a doob. The animated mystery comedy series from the 1970s is still as entertaining as ever, especially when you’re baked. I mean Scooby and Shaggy constantly have the munchies and drive around in a hippie van with a flower-power paint job in the search for Scooby Snacks. That’s not just a coincidence.
Always high up on any list of the best cartoons to watch high, Rick and Morty is a whole lot of quirkiness mixed with philosophical discussions that are great for an elevated mindset. Pack a bowl and join Rick, an alcoholic scientist, and his grandchildren Morty and Summer as they travel the multiverse meeting alien species and continuously getting into trouble. Between Rick’s hilarious one-liners and meeting themselves in a parallel universe, the show opens up mind-bending questions like the meaning of existence and moral relativism. Are you ready to get riggety, riggety, wrecked?
If you smoke weed, you’ve probably already found a hidden love for getting high and watching Adventure Time. Though it’s technically designed for all ages, this stoner show has a huge cult following of potheads (there’s even an Adventure Time stoner community on Reddit) who’re dazzled by the goofy characters, weird themes, and psychedelic vibe. The laid back nature of the show makes blazed viewers connect even more with the main characters Finn and Jake.
You may have watched it after school as a kid, but Dexter’s Laboratory is taken to a whole new level when baked. Roll up a blunt and watch the ultra-intelligent kid scientist, Dexter try to save the world, while dealing with his sister Dee Dee and her friends. The super relatable show will make you remember those days as a kid when your sister messes up your plans yet again. Though the tv show was cancelled in 2003, you can stream Dexter’s Laboratory on HBO Max.
Looking for something darker, but not as bizarre and depressing as Courage the Cowardly Dog? The 90s cartoon Gargoyles is a drama-filled series with a bit of everything including romance, action, and fat jokes. It also has a totally badass theme song that sets the tone. The show is about Gargoyles who turn to stone during the day, but come alive at night. Though they once lived in harmony with humans and protected them from invaders, humans betray them and only a few survive. If you don’t know where to start, begin with Gargoyles the Movie: Heroes Awaken, which is essentially a very long pilot turned movie.
Sticking with the dark themed shows, Batman the Animated Series should be on your watch list whether you watch it high or not. The cartoon is extremely well done and showcases all of your favorite characters like the Joker, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Bane, Harley Quinn, and Robin (who are we kidding, no one likes Robin). “The Laughing Fish,” “Beware the Grey Ghost,” “Harley and Ivy,” and “Over the Edge” are just a few episodes you shouldn’t miss.
