Do you smell something in the air? It’s probably getting close to the annual stoner holiday celebrated each April 20th by ganja lovers around the world. Most of the cherished 420 events were canceled or held virtually last year, but things are looking up and many ganja festivals and events are planned this year in celebration of the green goddess and cannabis culture. These are just a few of the best 420 events in 2021 that you shouldn’t miss.

Couch Locked: A 420 Comedy Special by Berner

If you want to smoke bud and laugh until you pee your pants, get a ticket to this live streamed comedy special presented by rapper and cannabis enthusiast, Berner. The San Francisco native is not only a chart topping rapper, he is also the founder of the popular cannabis and lifestyle company, Cookies. The “Couch Locked” 420 comedy special will include top performers Michael Blackson, Paul Rodriguez, Bob Saget, Donnell Rawlings, Cipha Sounds, Precious Hall, Teddy Ray and many other surprise guests who will be presenting original content from a theater in downtown San Francisco. Scoop up a $25 ticket to the virtual 420 event that is sure to have you locked to the couch in laughter (or maybe it was just the dank Northern Lights).

420 Earth Expo

For a full day of marijuana-focused activities, head down to the 420 Earth Expo in Lakewood, Colorado. This 420 festival of plant medicine is combined with a week-long Earth Day summit that will feature many special guest speakers such as Brigitte Mars, a world-renowned herbalist, Ashley Weber from Co Norml, and others. Kick off the day with a ganja yoga session, pop into a few panel discussions, learn how to cook with cannabis, and munch on dishes from one of the food trucks when you need a break. Tickets are split into three sessions throughout the day to minimize crowding, but if you aren’t in Colorado, you can still enjoy the fun via a live stream of all the speakers and activities.

Spliff Film Fest

They call themselves “a film festival made by the stoned for the stoned.” Held online this year from April 16 to 24, the third annual Spliff Film Fest will showcase over 20 short films from artists, directors, filmmakers, and animators who love ganja. All the films celebrate cannabis culture and examine how stoners utilize the green goddess for creativity and to enhance their daily lives. In addition to the film premieres, the 2021 schedule also includes viewing party smoke outs with special guests. Viewers will also be sent a link to cast a vote for their favorite films. The live 420 event can’t be rewatched, paused, or rewinded, so be sure to snag a ticket asap.

Cannival Festival

With all major 420 events canceled or held virtually last year, potheads in Colorado are itching to celebrate the stoner holiday in 2021. The Second Annual Cannival Festival will be held at I Bar Ranch located at nearly 8,000-foot elevation in the heart of beautiful Gunnison, Colorado. Expect art, live music by a Grateful Dead cover band, reggae groups, a Sublime tribute band, and lots and lots of legal marijuana. Start training for the 420 Olympics, which will top off the day. Tickets for the 420 festival are $25, but for the full experience, add on a camping pass and explore the ranch and surrounding Rocky Mountain region.

4/20 Pineapple Express Drive-In Movie

Taking rips of Pineapple Express while watching the stoner cult classic? Don’t act like you haven’t done it before. This 4/20, you can hotbox and watch James Franco and Seth Rogen get high and run from the bad guys at the Electric Dusk Drive-In Movie Theater in Glendale, California. While many people still feel uncomfortable going to a traditional movie theater, this covid-friendly (and 420-friendly) activity may be just the pick-me-up you need. If you can already recite every line from Pineapple Express, try watching Hereditary or Jackie Brown, both also held during 4/20 week. Arrive early to score the best spot!

1st Annual 420 Bash

The cannabis lifestyle brand LeChic420 is hosting the first annual 420 Bash in Detroit, Michigan. Celebrate 4/20 at this cannabis-friendly event that is a safe space to enjoy bud while having fun. Tickets to the event cost $20 and will grant you access to food booths, 420 games, raffles, giveaways, and other contests throughout the night. There will also be a bar, musical performances, and a large selection of 420 vendors.
